VeSave P is an organic compound commonly used in skincare products. It can be synthesized by the etherification of ethylene glycol and phenol. This colorless, oily liquid is frequently found in skincare creams and sunscreens. It exhibits antibacterial properties and is often used in combination with quaternary ammonium compounds. Phenoxyethanol is also commonly employed as a substitute for highly toxic sodium azide in biological buffer solutions due to its lower toxicity and chemical inertness towards copper and lead. It primarily functions as a preservative in cosmetics, skincare products, vaccines, and pharmaceuticals.
